Bicycle Safety
We are fortunate to live in a county that supports biking as a safe and desirable mode of transportation—Montgomery County has over 90 miles of bike-friendly shoulders or separated bike lanes. A bicycle is a moving vehicle and cyclists must obey traffic signs and signals.
Montgomery County’s Bikeways
The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) Division of Transportation Engineering (DTE) is responsible for planning, constructing and maintaining bikeways in the County, even bikeways on State roads. All bikeways constructed by MCDOT comply with Federal Law under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
